Hey, I'm Tara Hare, LPC

I’m so glad you’re here. Because we are having a shared human experience together, albeit a professional therapeutic one, it’s important that you have a little more information about me. Here are some of my own multigenerational family of origin values that guide me as a human and therapist: giving back to community; fairness and equity; curiosity; non-judgmental; genuineness; honesty; loyalty; being an advocate for others and using my privilege and voice for the greater good; the value of lived experiences; and the significance of being human together. Furthermore, I’m a recovering perfectionist, life-long learner, fierce advocate, dog mom, book dragon, car karaoke rockstar, willing to ask tough questions, and I’m okay with uncomfortable feelings and conversations.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Oregon and am on the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors and Therapists (OBLPCT) supervisor registry. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish in 1997. I have been in the mental health field since graduating with my Master’s Degree in Marriage & Family Therapy in 2006 and have worked in community mental health prior to entering private practice in 2025. Throughout my career I have worked with adolescents, couples, families, and adults of all ages.

My hope is to provide inclusive, respectful, meaningful, and accessible care that is culturally responsive to everyone I encounter. I continue to find meaning and value in the work I get to do and would be honored to be a part of your journey for however long or short we work together. I use a person-centered, holistic approach with cultural humility, recognizing that you are the expert in you. I have been trained in a variety of therapy approaches and modalities including, but not limited to trauma informed care, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), family systems, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and attachment therapy. I support individuals 14 years old and older in exploring their authentic self while navigating the world and hoping for and contributing to a better one.

If any of this resonates with you or you’d like to learn more, please contact me to schedule a complimentary 15-minute consultation.

I find meaning and connection in many places, such as the great outdoors, being in community with others, and within the pages of a good book.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are your prices?

My usual and customary fees for individual, couples, or family counseling throughout Oregon are:

    • $280 for the initial assessment and intake session

    • $200 for a 53 minute therapy session

    • $180 for a 45 minute therapy session

    • $160 for a 35 minute therapy session

  • Do you take insurance?

Yes! I am an in-network provider for some insurances, please check with your insurance and/or inquire to confirm if your insurance is one of them. If not yet, I might be in process of adding your insurance and/or I am able to provide you a superbill to submit to your insurance. If your insurance will cover superbills, once submitted, you’ll get a partial refund from them for your therapy sessions after your deductible has been met.

  • I've never been to therapy before. How does it work?

You are invited to schedule a free 15-minute consultation with me where we ask each other questions and see if we click or not. Then we will schedule the first appointment, which is an intake session. I will email you intake paperwork to review and complete in advance. During the intake I will ask you a lot of questions about your mental health and medical history and we will further discuss your goals for therapy and begin to build space where you can be open about your experiences, challenges, and hopes. Then with the next appointment, we will really get into it!

  • Tell me more about clinical supervision

Over the years, I have supported the development of more than 20 emerging clinicians through either master’s level internship supervision or licensure supervision for professional counselor and marriage and family associates through both individual and small group supervisions. I attempt to use an approach to clinical supervision that best fits the supervisee’s personality, philosophy, work setting, systemic context, competence level, and experiential history. I will most likely use an Integrated Developmental Model within the supervisory relationship. While my approach may vary with the uniqueness of each supervisee, my primary role is to protect client welfare and to support the supervisee in doing the same.

Clinical Supervision is offered on a limited basis for:

    • Professional counselor and marriage and family therapist associates who are registered with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors & Therapists (OBLPCT)

    • Supervision of Supervision to become an approved supervisor on the OBLPCT supervisor registry

My fees for consultation and/or supervision of any kind: $175/hour

Group supervision may be available, and prices are adjusted accordingly
